Love Note #1: Courageous Calm
Musings on a New Moon, Lovers Rock, & a Love That Lasts
Hey there,
Begin, again.
Trust, again.
Love, again.
With courageous calm.
As often as you can, greet obstacles, goals, and life with patience. Not because of any guarantees that the process will be smooth, but because things are always becoming and unraveling all at once.
Capricorn season is all about reckoning with the rigidity of time and the relentlessness of responsibility. It’s a season when we are most likely to put plans into motion, making resolutions or ambitious blueprints. It’s also a haunting. All of the things we didn't accomplish in yesteryear fester and linger turning into resentments, fear, anxiety, and doubt. Maybe you weren’t motivated or disciplined enough. Perhaps you weren't hungry, only thirsty. Maybe you gave it your best and wasn’t enough.
But there’s sweet honey in the rock. Saturn-ruled Capricorn is a lover of patience. Sade, the soulful Capricorn, sings about the ‘lovers rock’ that you can cling to in the storm. A love that endures.
Saturn in its rawest form is the weight of time. It wants to remind us the waiting enlarges us, it strengthens us, it grounds us. Capricorn teaches us to plant the seeds, water the roots, tend to the weeds. Make a plan, put in the work, and stick with it.
Here and now, cultivate the soil of your life. Trust the process. The wait is hard and heavy, but the harvest is abundant.
In the wake of today’s solar eclipse in Capricorn, I offer you this to carry into 2019:
Courageous calm in the face of uncertainty.
Patience and perspective. Anything committed to your purpose takes time.
Create a game plan to get through the rough patches before they arrive. Get objective about your shortcomings and strategize on how to overcome them.

Nurture your gifts. Those things that come effortlessly to you — they need care too.
Find the salve/balm/medicine that works for you and use it. Rub it on your wounds and let the light through.
